Voyager 3D

Experience Voyager in 3D
The Voyager missions began in late summer 1977. On August 20, 1977, Voyager 2 was launched into space, followed shortly thereafter by Voyager 1 on September 5, 1977. As “traveling reporters” they visited the planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They gave us spectacular new insights into these distant giant worlds and their bizarre moons. With the award-winning planetarium show VOYAGER – THE ENDLESS JOURNEY 3D by the fulldome specialists from Kiev, UmaVision, viewers can now experience the distant planets within their grasp. On the 360-degree dome of the Star Hall, they follow the journey of the Voyager sister probes to the outer reaches of our solar system - and much further.

Extended journey to the stars
In the extended version of the Hamburg Planetarium, the director of the planetarium, Prof. Thomas W. Kraupe, uses the unique 3D technology of the star theater to give the viewers an idea of the distances and spaces that the Voyager probes have traveled through so far. The audience learns when they will reach the next stars and how long their odyssey through the Milky Way will continue. Finally, from afar, they look back towards the Earth from which these "ambassadors of humanity" were launched 45 years ago.

The Voyager probes not only send important data from space to Earth, but also carry a gold-plated record on board - the so-called "Golden Records" with messages for extraterrestrial life forms. In the planetarium show, those interested can hear what playlist this extraterrestrial soundtrack contains and what importance is attached to the sound documents and images of our blue planet, which were sent on an almost never-ending epic journey 45 years ago with the space probes.

Original production from Ukraine
