With DJ Katja Ruge & Ellen AllienELECTRIC LIGHTS – Women in Electronic Music
In ELECTRIC LIGHTS, the focus is on the energy and power of women in electronic music: their passion, their experiences, and their unique artistic perspectives. Photographer and DJ Katja Ruge teams up with artists she has portrayed to create an immersive performance inside the dome of Planetarium Hamburg. This edition features Ellen Allien.
Ellen Allien is one of the most influential artists of our time – a visionary who understands techno as a language for future, freedom, and community. Since the early 1990s, she has shaped Berlin’s club and rave culture, connecting music, art, and fashion through her open-minded spirit.
With ten albums and countless releases on labels such as Warp and Mute, Ellen Allien creates sonic worlds that are both uncompromising and emotional. Collaborations with artists like Ash Code and Rosa Anschütz, as well as her acclaimed album AurAA, showcase her ability to merge genres and open new spaces.
As a DJ, she travels the world – from iconic clubs to major festival stages – and curates her legendary “We Are Not Alone” raves in Berlin, a manifesto for the power of techno.
Through her labels “BPitch” and “UFO Inc.”, she continually supports emerging voices, shapes generations, and remains an inexhaustible source of energy, freedom, and futurity.
